Individual Shipper

A person who is a shipper, consignee or consignor of a shipment including household goods, owns the items being shipped, pays the tariff charges and is listed on the bill of lading as the shipper, consignor or consignee.

Impracticable Operations

Services that become necessary when operating conditions make it impossible for a motor carrier to pick up or deliver your items with typical road-haul equipment or requires using smaller equipment and/or additional labor to successfully complete the job. These services are explained in detail on the moving tariff.

Inventory

A detailed list that describes all of your household goods, including the condition and quantity of each item.

Interstate Move

A move that involves crossing a state border or boundary regardless of the total number of miles.

Intrastate Move

A move that does not involves crossing a state boundary but is usually more than 40 miles in distance.

Insurance-Related General Increase (IRR Surcharge)

A fee assessed, in line with the tariff, to aid in recovery of the increased cost of transportation operator’s liability insurance expenses.
