Even a move to better surroundings can be stressful, and some moves involve priceless technological equipment, art or antique collections, military or government personnel. Sure they say they’re licensed and bonded, but how can you be sure that a moving company you hire is upstanding and will take care in getting your household belongings from one place to another or even show up for the move after you’ve paid a deposit?
The American Moving & Storage Association (AMSA) steps in alongside those in the moving industry to set a moving industry standard. This non-profit organization supports government regulations and policies that work to protect consumers while allowing the moving professionals to provide quality service at compensatory prices.
The American Moving & Storage Association (AMSA) has a mission to represent the interests of professional moving companies while helping the customers these companies serve. The AMSA is membership based and has the interest of both interstate and local moving companies in mind as well as moving industry suppliers. This moving professional’s trade organization represents more than 4,100 members.
AMSA offers a full range of services for professional movers who meet the high standards set in place. They offer legal assistance, federal government representation, tax assistance, financial reports, statistics reports, loss and damage claim dispute arbitration.
In addition, AMSA provides informational publications filled with up-to-date trends and news in the moving business. The Association also provides professional education and certification programs. These publications include a bi-monthly magazine and a quarterly summary of data.
One of their certification programs is called the ProMover quality certification. This program was developed to give consumers confidence that the mover they are hiring is legitimate and abides by scrupulous principles set in place.
The Association also works to educate consumers to make sure the customer fully understands the value of professional moving services.
